5 Key Tests Before LASIK
A detailed eye evaluation helps our specialists understand your eyes and determine whether LASIK is right for you.
01 — Refraction Test
Know Your Exact Eye Power
Measures your current eye power accurately, including short-sightedness, long-sightedness and astigmatism, to understand your refractive error.

02 — IOP Test
Check Your Eye Pressure
Measures the pressure inside your eye, known as intraocular pressure (IOP), to assess eye health and identify whether further evaluation may be needed.

03 — Corneal Topography
Map the Shape of Your Cornea
Creates a detailed map of the cornea’s surface and curvature, helping specialists assess its shape and identify irregularities before considering
LASIK.

04 — Dry Eye Test
Check Your Eye Surface & Tear Film
Evaluates the tear film and ocular surface to identify dryness or instability that may need to be addressed before LASIK.

05 — Retina Evaluation
Check the Health of Your Retina
Examines the retina and the back of the eye to identify any underlying retinal conditions that may need attention before considering LASIK.

IF A PROBLEM IS FOUND
What Happens if a Test Shows a Problem?
A finding during your LASIK evaluation does not always mean you cannot have LASIK.
First, the condition is evaluated and managed appropriately.
Retina Evaluation
Checking for a Healthy Retina
In patients with myopia or hyperopia, we carefully examine the retina for any weak areas that may need attention before LASIK.
We look for:
Lattice degeneration
Retinal holes
Areas of retinal weakness
Other retinal findings
IOP Evaluation
Checking Your Eye Pressure
We measure the intraocular pressure (IOP) to assess your eye health.
If the IOP is above normal, further evaluation is done to rule out glaucoma.
If a Retinal Weak Area Is Found

1. Retinal Finding
Lattice or holes or weak areas are identified.

2. Barrage Laser (if indicated)
Laser treatment is performed around the affected area.

3. 2 Weeks Observation
The eye is monitored after the laser treatment.

4. LASIK Evaluation
Once the retina is stable, you can proceed with the LASIK pathway.
If IOP Is Above 20 mmHg

1. IOP Above 20
If your eye pressure is above 20 mmHg, further evaluation is needed.

2. Glaucoma Evaluation
We assess the optic nerve and look for any signs of glaucoma.

3. Visual Fields (if required)
Visual field testing is done depending on the clinical assessment.

4. Reassessment for LASIK
If glaucoma is ruled out and your eyes are healthy, LASIK suitability is reassessed.
